Masters of Arts is one of the oldest postgraduate programs and this specialized degree offers a wide range of studies in the field of Arts, Humanities, Music and some areas of Social Science. It is also offered in distance mode for those who don’t want to attend regular college. Those undergoing the Arts degree have typically studied subjects within the scope of the humanities and social sciences, such as history, literature, linguistics, public administration, political science, communication studies, however, different institutions have different programmes and may also offer the degree for fields specifically designed within the natural sciences and mathematics. The degree can be awarded for completing courses and passing examinations, research, or both.

Students who want to pursue a Master of Arts, need to be dedicated and focused towards the specialization opted. A master’s course requires greater will power, dedication and hard work as compared to a bachelor’s course as a candidate will have to do in-depth subject research.

It is the perfect choice for those who have completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree from a recognized University. But a graduation degree in the Arts discipline is not a mandatory criterion for applying to MA. The minimum duration for completion MA is 2 years however in distance mode, universities offer a maximum duration of 5 years for completion. Through distance mode, you can also have an option to handle a side hustle, job or exam preparation, and continue with your Master’s degree.

The subjects taught in an MA course vary as per the specialization selected by the student. Apart from this, there is a possibility of a slight difference in the curriculum from one college to another. There is a vast choice offered by the college to choose the Master’s degree from.

Who is this Program for?

Candidates should have successfully completed their Bachelor's degree (preferably arts, otherwise any UG degree) of a minimum 3 or 4-year duration or its equivalent. The passing degree whether passing degree, Bachelor's or Master's, should be from a university that is recognized by the UGC (University Grants Commission) of India.

This course is for students who want to gain in-depth domain knowledge and need a decent education in a good institution, or those who can’t afford the fees of a regular college but want to pursue higher studies. It is also well suitable for students who are busy in a side hustle, live remotely or can’t attend regular college due to any reason. Because of the flexibility in age to apply to this program, the students who couldn’t complete their studies in time can also apply, no matter what their age is.
